The canoe and boat building craft village in Long Hau commune, Lai Vung district has been
established for more than 100 years. The craft village was recognized by the Provincial
People's Committee as a traditional craft village in 2005, and continues to be honored as a
national intangible cultural heritage in 2015; craft villages not only have material value but
also spiritual value for the local here. Currently, there are 17 households with 68 workers
participates in the boat-building profession.
Craft village products are diverse, people can process most types of canoes and boats;
Following market trends, the craft village switched to making handicrafts of miniature
canoes and boats to provide to visitors.
