Recently, water hyacinth weaving in Dong Thap has become a popular
profession, contributing to improving income and reducing poverty for
rural people. Understanding the trend of consuming green and
environmentally friendly products, woven water hyacinth products are
currently very popular, increasingly expanding the international market.
In 2003, the water hyacinth weaving village in An Phu Thuan commune,
Chau Thanh district was recognized by Provincial People's Committee. In
2018, the water hyacinth carpet weaving village in My Hiep commune,
Cao Lanh district was recognized. Craft villages has been maintained
operations and developed effectively.
The products are diverse and mainly processed according to orders from
establishments and companies such as: baskets, carpets, tables and
chairs and some products used for interior decoration.
